Custom Dry Bags Manufactured to Your Spec

QUANZHOU JUNYUAN BAGS is a custom dry bag manufacturer in Quanzhou, China, producing welded TPU and PVC roll-top dry bags for outdoor, beach, boating and promotional brands since 2014. Our affiliated factory runs 7 production lines and 149 machines, with SGS-verified monthly capacity of 200,000 pieces. We accept MOQ 500 pcs per size/color, deliver first samples in 6–10 working days, and ship DDP to 100+ countries. Every dry bag passes a 30-minute submersion test at 1 meter depth before it leaves the factory.

What Makes a Dry Bag "Custom"?

A custom dry bag is built to your size, color, material and branding spec, rather than bought off a shelf. The customization choices that matter are: capacity (we stock 2L, 5L, 10L, 20L, 30L and 50L), material (0.5mm TPU for premium, 0.55mm PVC for value), closure (roll-top clip, aqua-zipper or drawcord), color (stock Pantone colors or custom dye lot), logo method (screen print, heat transfer, woven label or PU patch), and packaging (polybag, header card or retail box). We hold your approved sample and cutting dies for 24 months, so reorders reproduce the same bag without re-sampling.

Materials: TPU vs PVC

We build custom dry bags on two stock constructions. The premium line is 0.5mm TPU-laminated 500D polyester: soft, matte, flexible and recyclable. This is the default for outdoor and paddlesports brands. The value line is 0.55mm PVC-laminated 500D polyester: stiffer, glossier and 15–20% cheaper. This is the default for beach retail and promotional buyers. Both are hot-air welded, both pass the 30-minute submersion test, and both carry BSCI, ISO 9001:2015 and RoHS documentation. We also offer rPET recycled lamination for brands targeting recycled-content claims.

Welding, Not Sewing

The single most important production choice for a dry bag is welded seams. Every needle hole in a sewn seam is a potential leak path, even when taped. Our dry bags are die-cut from a one-piece tube of film, then hot-air welded along the bottom and sides. The roll-top neck is folded and welded into a clip channel. There are no needle holes on the watertight envelope. After welding, every bag is sampled for hydrostatic pressure (JIS L 1092, ≥10,000 mm) and a 30-minute 1-meter submersion. If a bag leaks in the field, it is a production defect — and we remake it.

Branding and Logo Options

We support four logo methods. Screen print works on flat panels and costs USD 0.10–0.30 per unit; it is the most common choice for promo dry bags. Heat transfer works on curved surfaces but fades after 1–2 years of UV exposure. Woven labels sewn into the side seam look premium at USD 0.40–0.80 per unit. PU leather patches are embossed and stitched on for a luxury feel at USD 0.80–1.50. We do not embroider directly on TPU film because the needle holes leak. We will recommend the right method based on your bag type and brand position.

Pricing and Lead Times

At 1,000 pcs FOB Quanzhou, a 20L 0.5mm TPU roll-top dry bag runs approximately USD 4.5–7.5, depending on webbing hardware, logo method and packaging. A 5L PVC promo dry bag runs USD 2.0–3.5. Sampling takes 6–10 working days at a fee of USD 80–150 per sample (refunded on orders over 1,000 pcs). Bulk production takes 35–50 days after sample approval and 30% deposit. We ship FOB, CIF or DDP to 100+ countries.

How We Engineer a Custom Dry Bag: Step by Step

When a new customer sends us a reference sample or a set of sketches, the engineering team starts by reverse-engineering the existing product or developing a new pattern from scratch. The first deliverable is a dimensioned flat drawing: panel sizes, weld seam locations, roll-top neck length, webbing attachment points and hardware placement. Once the buyer approves the drawing, the pattern maker plots the panels on CAD and produces a cutting marker that minimizes fabric waste. Die-cutting steel rules are built for each panel; these dies are stored for reorders. The fabric is then cut, the bottom seam is hot-air welded, the side seams are welded, and the roll-top channel is welded and fitted with the clip. Hardware — buckles, D-rings, shoulder straps — is then attached. Finally the bag goes through the submersion tank and is packed.

Roll-Top Closure Engineering

The roll-top closure is the heart of a dry bag. It works by creating a long, folded water path that water cannot cross. We engineer the neck so that three folds leave the clip at a comfortable height on a 20L bag. Fewer than three folds and the bag is spray-resistant but not submersible; more than five folds and usable volume drops by 15–20%. The clip itself is a side-release buckle that locks the rolled neck. For serious paddlesports, we offer a double-strap roll-top that clips on both sides, preventing the roll from unspooling during a swim. For phone pouches, the closure is a simple rubber snap because the small opening cannot accommodate a full roll.

Testing Protocol: Beyond the Submersion Tank

Every batch passes three in-line tests. The first is visual: welds must be uniform, flat and free of cold welds (which appear as cloudy or discolored seams). The second is hydrostatic pressure on a sample from each lot, tested to JIS L 1092 at a minimum of 10,000 mm water column. The third is a 30-minute submersion at 1 meter depth. For premium TPU bags, we also run a cold-crack test at -20°C and a UV exposure test over 200 hours per ISO 4892. We share the test report with the buyer before the vessel sails. Buyers who require third-party verification can schedule SGS or Intertek on-site inspection at the end of production.

Common Customization Options

Beyond size, material and logo, buyers regularly request the following features: transparent TPU windows on the front (for phone pouches and visibility), exterior zippered pockets with YKK AquaGuard zippers (adds USD 4–8 per zipper), padded shoulder straps on dry backpacks, MOLLE webbing for tactical buyers, a removable interior dry liner, a front daisy chain, a D-ring lash point, a mesh drain panel on boating dry bags, and a name badge holder for kids' beach bags. Each option adds a measurable cost and lead time; we itemize them on the quote so you can choose which features earn their keep.

Packaging, Shipping and DDP

Standard packaging is a single polybag per bag, 50 pcs per export carton (5-layer corrugated, 55 × 45 × 40 cm). For retail buyers, we offer hang-hole header cards, CMYK retail boxes, instruction cards in English/Spanish/French/German, and barcode or FNSKU labeling for Amazon FBA. We ship FOB Quanzhou, CIF or DDP. DDP includes export docs, ocean freight, import clearance, duty and last-mile delivery to your warehouse. A 1,000-piece 20L dry bag order ships in roughly 10 cartons, about 1.2 CBM, by sea. To the US West Coast, DDP door-to-door takes 30–40 days from shipment; to Northern Europe, 35–45 days.

Why Buyers Choose Us for Custom Dry Bags

After 12 years of dry bag production, we have earned repeat orders from outdoor brands in North America, Europe and Australia. The reasons our buyers stay with us are concrete: we actually weld the seams rather than sew-and-tape; we hold the 500 pcs MOQ (where Tier-1 factories demand 2,000+); we deliver samples in 6–10 days (where trading companies take 3+ weeks); we share photos and video throughout production; and we ship DDP so the buyer does not need a customs broker. We are not the cheapest supplier on Alibaba, and we are not the most expensive. We are the supplier that shows up with a sample that matches the approved spec on the first try.

People Also Ask: Custom Dry Bags

Can you make a dry bag that floats?

A basic welded dry bag floats because it traps air when rolled closed. If you need positive buoyancy for safety gear (VHF radio, phone), we add closed-cell PE foam to the bag walls — these are our floating cooler and boat-bag models.

Do you produce transparent dry pouches for cameras?

Yes. We build transparent TPU camera dry pouches with touch-sensitive windows, foam padded interiors and a shoulder strap. These are popular with travel and snorkel brands.

What is the minimum order for a custom Pantone color?

Custom Pantone colors require a film dye lot, which adds USD 150–300 setup and raises the per-color MOQ to 1,000 pcs. Stock colors (black, orange, yellow, blue, green, grey) are available at the standard 500 pcs MOQ.

Can you put our hang tag on the bag?

Yes. We source or apply your custom hang tags, woven labels and care labels at no extra assembly cost; you supply the printed components or we can arrange printing.

What is the shelf life of a TPU dry bag?

With proper care (rinsed after saltwater, dried before storage, kept out of direct sunlight when not in use), a welded TPU dry bag lasts 3–5 years of regular use. PVC bags last 2–3 years before the film becomes brittle.

Material Options Beyond TPU and PVC

While TPU and PVC are the two dominant films, we also work with three alternative constructions for specific buyer needs. rPET (recycled PET) lamination is available for EU brands targeting recycled-content claims; it carries GRS chain-of-custody documentation and has a slightly stiffer hand than virgin TPU. Biodegradable PVC blends are offered for promo buyers who need a lower-cost, more eco-friendly option, though they require proper industrial composting. And for non-submersible but water-resistant products (rain covers, laptop sleeves), we use PU-coated 210D/420D nylon, which is far lighter than TPU but only water-resistant rather than submersible. We will tell you honestly which construction matches your performance target and price point; we do not sell PU-coated nylon as a "dry bag."

Hardware and Closure Options

The closure system is the second failure point after the seam. We specify YKK AquaGuard or TIZIP watertight zippers when buyers want convenient access; these cost USD 4–8 per zipper but seal reliably. Roll-top side-release buckles come in 25mm and 20mm widths, in black or custom colors. D-rings are available in stainless steel (for saltwater) or coated steel (for freshwater). Webbing is 25mm polyester standard, with 38mm available for heavy expedition bags. Every hardware choice is listed on the spec sheet so buyers can compare line-item costs rather than guessing where the price comes from.

Production Defect Rate and Warranty

Because every bag passes through the submersion tank before packing, our field failure rate on welded dry bags is under 0.5%. The most common defects we catch in-house are cold welds (visible as cloudy seams), zipper misalignment, and print registration errors. These are reworked before shipment. If a production defect reaches you, we credit or remake the affected units within 12 months of shipment. We do not require the customer to ship the failed bag back to China; photos and a short video are enough to verify the defect. This warranty posture is one reason most of our buyers come back for second, third and fourth reorders.
